The Splash Lab - Aerofoil
The Aerofoil reimagines the washroom experience with a ’floating’ sink concept - a single solid-surface slab appearing to hover off the wall, supported by a hidden steel-and-aluminium framework.
The Aerofoil sink system combines refined aesthetics with robust engineering, featuring a hidden in-wall support frame capable of holding up to 150 kg per 600 mm module, a precisely angled 10° washplane to eliminate splash, and a modular “kit of parts” construction for scalable, multi-user installations. Its clean structural design includes adjustable support legs, removable grates, and a CNC-machined solid surface or marble washplane—all developed for durability, ease of installation, and long-term maintenance access.

Process
Engineered the in-wall extrusion support system to meet high load standards, ensure stability, and facilitate precise water flow control.
Designed frame-leg assembly to seamlessly integrate with standard wall framing. Engineered adjustability to compensate for on-site deviations and enable single-trade install
Collaborated on computational simulations and physical load testing. Refined bracket geometry, joint tolerances, and assembly process to guarantee strength with elegant form.
Developed parts for CNC production - washplane, grate, frame - standardised module widths for scalability, and optimized tolerances to simplify fabrication and installation.
Documented a clean seven-stage install guide: load-bearing frame setup, level adjustment, plumbing integration, wall finishing, washplane insertion, fixture mounting, and maintenance access planning
