Process
As industrial design and development partners, we collaborated closely with Joseph Joseph to translate their functional brief into a refined, robust and manufacturable product. Our involvement included:
Concept Development & Design Language: Evolved the initial drying-frame concept into a space-efficient, unobtrusive structure, balancing strength and style.
Mechanical Design & Engineering: Developed the tiered folding mechanism, caster-based movement, and screen deployment features with mechanical simplicity and user safety in mind.
Prototyping & Testing: Built and refined appearance and engineering prototypes to validate strength (14 kg load), mobility, and tier folding across varied laundry loads.
Manufacturing Support: Delivered detailed CAD and DFM refinements, aligning materials and tolerances for efficient tooling, high-volume production, and longevity in domestic use.
